First Steps

I was watching Bull Durham one day recently and Crash said that once in while he just needed to “howl at the moon”.  That is the way I feel.  The weather this winter has me feeling listless and hibernatingish (yes that is a real word).  I have had to take several “stop and breathe” beaks just to avoid going completely off the tracks.

HOWLING:

I hate (really hate) cold weather and ice.  I hate it that I can’t ride my motorcycle.  I hate it that people can’t come look at our house and buy it so we can move to Florida.  I hate having to wear lined pants just to walk the 100 feet from my car to work.  I hate it that the best time to look at the moon and the stars is when it is 5 degrees outside.  However, I do like it when our prissy dog won’t do his business cause it’s too cold outside and he wants to come back inside.  He just turns around in a little circle and stands at the door waiting to be let back in.

BREATHING better

I feel some better now, hope anyone reading this does too.

    you’re working with? I’m going to start my own blog in the
    near future but I’m having a hard time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.

    than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and
    everything. Nevertheless just imagine if you added some great images or videos to give your posts more, “pop”!
    Your content is excellent but with pics and videos, this blog
    could certainly be one of the most beneficial in its niche.

    My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several weeks of hard work due to no back up.
    Do you have any methods to stop hackers?

    1. I have not had problems so far. I just try to follow good online self-defense: don’t use the same password at any two websites, make the passwords hard to guess, use a lot of special characters and numbers and don’t use real words. I also change my passwords every so often. I am kinda paranoid about security but I think you can’t be too paranoid when it comes to my online security. Hope that helps although I feel like those are just basic precautions. Come back often.

    1. I use WordPress.com to host my blogs. So far, I haven’t had problems, but I have a small presence on the web. I can’t say one host is more secure than another, but WordPress has done well for me.

    just curious if you get a lot of spam feedback? If so how do
    you prevent it, any plugin or anything you can suggest?
    I get so much lately it’s driving me mad so any assistance is very much appreciated.

    1. I get some spam, but the WordPress plugin akismet stops most of what gets to me. It flags a lot of replies as spam and I have to go through some, but tonight for example, I has about 20 messages in spam and only about 5 were really spam. Hope that helps and come back often.

    1. Good evening, I use WordPress to host my blogs. It gets them out to the search engines way faster than Google does, in my opinion. WordPress is free to host, unless you want to purchase the domain name then it’s about $20 a year.

    1. I am a novice myself. I just write what is in my going on with me. I don’t try to force the words. Just be yourself, there are plenty of fakes, but only one you.
