First Steps

I was watching Bull Durham one day recently and Crash said that once in while he just needed to “howl at the moon”.  That is the way I feel.  The weather this winter has me feeling listless and hibernatingish (yes that is a real word).  I have had to take several “stop and breathe” beaks just to avoid going completely off the tracks.

HOWLING:

I hate (really hate) cold weather and ice.  I hate it that I can’t ride my motorcycle.  I hate it that people can’t come look at our house and buy it so we can move to Florida.  I hate having to wear lined pants just to walk the 100 feet from my car to work.  I hate it that the best time to look at the moon and the stars is when it is 5 degrees outside.  However, I do like it when our prissy dog won’t do his business cause it’s too cold outside and he wants to come back inside.  He just turns around in a little circle and stands at the door waiting to be let back in.

BREATHING better

I feel some better now, hope anyone reading this does too.

  6. I drop a leave a response each time I like a post on a site
    or I have something to add to the discussion. Usually it’s a result of the sincerness displayed in the post I looked at.
    And after this post First Steps | The Purposeful Geek.
    I was moved enough to drop a thought 😉 I do have
    2 questions for you if you usually do not mind. Is it only me or does it look as if
    like a few of these remarks appear like coming from
    brain dead people? 😛 And, if you are writing at additional
    online social sites, I would like to follow everything fresh you have to
    post. Would you list all of all your communal pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?

    1. Thanks for your kind remarks. I cannot really say anything about my readers, but it does look like some comments are generated by some sort of program. I’ll add my other profiles to my contact info on the blog.

    It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s tough to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and visual appearance.

  27. My programmer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP.
    I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses. But he’s tryiong none the less.
    I’ve been using WordPress on various websites for about a year and am worried about switching to another platform.
    I have heard very good things about blogengine.net.
    Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress posts into
    it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    in your post seem to be running off the screen in Safari.
    I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something
    to do with browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let

    1. I also use safari on a Mac and have not seen this issue. I get comments like yours from time to time, but have not seen them myself. I’l send an exam to WordPress support and see what they say.

    1. This theme is called Twenty Thirteen and it is one of the free ones from WordPress.com. I’m not much on the artistic front so I use what is easy and concentrate on my writing.

    1. I use the free WordPress site. I did buy my own domain, but you don’t need to do that. I also use google for another website business, that is about $10 annually for the domain and about $5 a months for Google Apps, email and web tools, etc.

    1. I get some spam, probably about 5 or 6 a day, mostly from the same site in denmark. I have the kismet plugin running on WordPress and it catches a lot of it before it gets to me. I hope you find something that works for you. I also get a lot of comments marked as spam that aren’t, though.
