baseball, Mac frustration and Q&A

I am sorta mad.  The Braves just traded away Jason Heyward to the hated not my favorite Cardinals.  I thought the new GM would go out and get some hitters, instead he got another pitcher.  You have to score some runs to win baseball games.  Pitching has never been Atlanta’s problem.  Finding 9 guys who can hit is.  I think after 25+ years of having my heart broken by the Braves, I’m real close to giving up on baseball.

Any of you have problems with certain websites not functioning correctly on Safari?  I cannot get my financial institutions to play well with it.  I either have to go dig out my old Windows 8 laptop or switch to Chrome to get certain transactions to work.  I may just be having a ID10T moment, but I’m just not sure.

I have almost become an Apple nerd.  I don’t like to use Windows anymore.  The scrolling is backwards, well once you have gotten used to a Mac.  I’m learning to work around my other issues, most of which are because i don’t like to change or I’m just not used to the Mac yet.

I took the MacBook out on the water with me yesterday and wrote some while the boss was fishing.  I found out that I DO get bored fishing.  I don’t get bored just sitting, or just sitting with a beer, but I can’t split my time being a slug and having to pay attention to the bait.  I did discover that sitting in a boat being rocked gently by the current is a good way to clear out the mind and meditate or just be in the moment.  The waves yesterday were like being in a swinging hammock or sitting in one of those old metal green and white gliders like my great-grandparents used to have.  For a few minutes, I was just…there.  I was as refreshed as if I had taken a nap.

I get the same questions repeated asked of me in the comments.  I am going to add a Frequently Asked Questions section to the main blog page this week to answer those questions and some you didn’t ask.  I know that not everyone reads the comments, so I will answer your questions here at the end of the blog on Thursdays.  I will answer a couple today and then I’ll answer more on Thursday’s post(s).

Q:  What is your hosting platform and what is your theme?

A:  I use WordPress.com as my hosting platform.  As I am basically cheap, I just use one of the free themes for both my blogs. I haven’t done any “tweaks”, but probably should.  Purposeful Geek uses the “Twenty Thirteen” theme.  I did add the widgets though.

Q:  How can I get in touch with you?

A:  Email me at:  geek@purposefulgeek.com.  WordPress doesn’t have an email platform so will get an answer from another email address.

Look for more answers and questions on Thursday.

It is starting to rain, I’ve gotta go make some coffee before I fall asleep.  See ya later.
